Growing up in Southern Connecticut, an hour from New York City, Tara Hogan has a loving appreciation for New England’s rustic intricate beauty combined with Manhattan’s modern urban style and vintage deco roots.

Tara created INK+WIT, a design and illustration service and retail based business in 2003. Her work has been selected in juried exhibitions for the Society of Illustrators and American Illustration.

APAK is Aaron Piland and Ayumi Kajikawa Piland. They are husband and wife tag team artists who live among the furry conifer giants in a little cottage on the outskirts of Portland. They create artwork together as a way of exploring the beauty, mystery, and magic of life as well as expressing their love for life and for each other. It is their hope that their work sparkles your eyes and brings you a warm smile :)(:

Emily Martin, alias The Black Apple, is a twenty-six year old girl who lives and works among the giant fir trees of Portland, OR. This is where she runs her cottage industry. Scribbling, stitching, painting, and baking are certainly the things she does best. Also, it is important to note that she loves toy pianos, vintage sewing notions, documentaries, Little Golden Books, swans, and that her fondest wish is to live in a house in the forest.

Kate is a design educator, graphic designer and illustrator, as well as the founder of Obsessive Consumption. Her work has been featured in galleries and exhibitions across the country and she has illustrated for The New York Times, Ready-Made Magazine, J.Crew, Handmade Nation and more. Princeton Architectural Press is publishing 650 of her daily drawings in a book to be released March of 2010. She lives in Portland, Oregon and is an Assistant Professor at Portland State University.

Following years logged making zines in New York, Oakland, and Portland, then getting his MFA in graphic design at CalArts in Los Angeles, Ian Lynam moved his multidisciplinary design studio to Tokyo. He is the co-founder of the Japanese cultural journal Neojaponisme and regularly contributes to Idea Magazine, Viewers Like U, and PingMag.

Lisa DeJohn is a fine artist, illustrator and surface designer living in the North Shore of Massachusetts. She draws inspiration from plant forms, animals, architectural structures and antique paper goods. Her freelance work includes clients such as Chronicle Books, The Land of Nod, teNeues Publishing, IKEA, Godiva Chocolatier and Urban Outfitters.

Brooke Thompson is a native of steely Cleveland, Ohio. She obtained a BFA in Illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York before eloping to Portland soon after in 2005. Brooke has freelanced locally for Nike, Willamette Week, Clutch Camera & Lighting, and can be spotted hard at work from her Hawthorne Blvd. desk window.

Carson Ellis was born in Vancouver, B.C. and raised in suburban New York. She earned a BFA in painting from the university of Montana. She is probably best known for her work with the Decemberists and has lately been working on projects eith Harper Collins, Harcourt, and Hyperion. Upcoming books include The Composer is Dead by Lemony Snicket and a book of Greek myths adapted by Cynthia Rylant. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, kitty, and son Hank.

Melani Brown is an Oregon-based filmmaker and photographer, who has worked in the film industry for over eight years. Melani applies her knowledge of cinematic lighing to her still photography. Recent projects include portraits of Portland-based musicians Laura Gibson, Nick Jaina, The Builders and The Butchers, and doubledutch, who are featured on this card.
